RIM Releases BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 in Dubai!

Research In Motion collaborates Porsche Design to announce BlackBerry P’9981 smartphone today in a special event hosted at Burj Khaleefa, Dubai. This premium designed BlackBerry sports stainless steel in the front & complete leather back.Porsche Design P’9981 is created on a platform that unites 1 GHz processor and BlackBerry® 7 OS. It works on same Touch & Type principle like the Bold 9900 with stainless steel premium designed keypad and touch screen display.

Porsche Design P’9981 not only differs in appearance but also in software. The operating system features custom Porsche font all around along redesigned icons. In addition, every Porsche Design BlackBerry P’9981 will have unique PIN starting with 2AA.

P’9981 from your BlackBerry smartphone is a product that we can be proud of“, said Juergen Gesler, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Design Group. “The combination of excellent design, unique materials and manufacturing process perfectly embodies our philosophy. Smartphone P’9981 became the perfect complement of the Porsche Design product line“.

“Our partnership is built on the same understanding of the unity of form and content”, added Todd wood, Senior Vice President of industrial design at RIM. “Porsche Design P’9981 is a luxurious modern Smartphone, combining excellent Porsche Design work and outstanding BlackBerry technology“.

Porsche Design P’9981 shares the same Bold 9900 Platform, combining the processor with a clock speed of 1 Ghz, 5MP camera with ability to record HD video, 24-bit high-resolution graphics and a set of sensors that allows you to run modern applications complemented by reality. Smartphone is equipped with 8 GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 40GB applying microSD cards. The phone is also NFC Technology ready to make it more superior than  any other Porsche Design phones out yet.

Porsche Design P’9981 hit the shelves of Porsche Design Stores before the end of this year.

    So this phone is essentially tad bit slower than the 9900 since the 9900 has 1.2ghz processor. Also, they didn’t specify the amount of RAM.
