Tata Indicom , the CDMA arm of telecom service provider Tata Teleservices, launched BlackBerry Bold 9650 today in New Dehli. The device will be first combined CDMA/GSM smartphone in the country.
“As the youngest dual-technology telecom service provider in India, the addition of a smartphone like the BlackBerry Bold 9650 to our portfolio of products and services from RIM is an important step in strengthening our offerings to consumers,” said Sunil Batra, president, CDMA operations, at Tata Teleservices Limited.
BlackBerry Bold 9650 comes with OS5 pre-installed but is OS6 ready device with 512 flash memory & 3.2 auto-focus camera.
TATA also offers special deal to customers purchasing the handset in October. For the first two months they will receive a free data pack worth Rs.900 per month, as well as 500 MB of tethered modem data usage per month
You can also unlock Tata Bold 9650 to use on other GSM networks.

Does BB9650 support 3G networks offered by Airtel and BSNL?
I was wanting to use BSNL 3G sim card with this phone.
Will that be possible and do you unlock BB9650 from Tata Indicom?
So after this phone gets unlocked will I get good 3G speeds from BSNL.

A device can run any service’s 3G network. Make sure you buy a GSM handset. The Bold 9650 released by TATA is a CDMA device which cannot be unlocked.
