It’s going to be a complete re-launch of BlackBerry PlayBook at DEVCON next month. It’s officially stated the new BlackBerry Tablet OS 2.0 will be shown at the event & will be available thereafter. As its still a month away, we can expect some additional features & screenshot leaks like our Chinese source did before. However, Mike Lazaridis, CO-Ceo at RIM has revealed few upcoming features on earning call & also added that the company will reveal their next BlackBerry Superphones based on QNX operating system. Let’s list down some official & expected BlackBerry Tablet OS 2.0 features.

- BBM on PlayBook (attached to PlayBook’s PIN)
- Native E-mail client
- Extended Android app player (not a sandboxed variation!)
- BES support (not integrated, separate software and will utilize ActiveSync)
- Use BlackBerry smartphone as a remote control on the PlayBook (mouse, pointer for powerpoints, etc.)
- PlayBook administration service support
- Loads of bug fixes
- BlackBerry Video store – Buy, rent newly released movies

- Native 3D apps – Demonstrated by TAT members
- Native Video Editor – Recently bagged online media editing company JayCut
- High-end graphics games with recent NDK release
- Multiplayer Gaming – Demonstrated earlier

This is great news, I hope they also add USB hosting as promised.
they never promised USB support but yes they can add this feature as the port is USB-OTG (On The Go)
Ok, I thought this was one the things mentioned from the beginning. I might of been wrong though.
I def wish I could connect my external hard drive to watch movies or files to view/edit while on a business trip though.
That would be sweet 🙂
Forgot to add- hope they also add more CODEC support as currently I have to convert all my flv, mp4 and WMP files.
