RIM Confirms BIS Down; Will Resume Late Night

 

Chaos continues as BlackBerry Internet Service(BIS) shuts down again in India & several other countries. Though RIM stating it to be a server “problem”, we ran tests comfirming BIS 4.1 update today morning(~4am) & successfully treated with new functions on Vodafone network. Though Airtel network were lagging behind with no sign of upgrade till noon today when service ran out for yet another survey.

RIM has issued the following statement:

Some users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, India, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina are experiencing messaging and browsing delays. We are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.                              – Source

Some of local networks also released awareness message to subscribers as follows:

You may again be experiencing intermittent issues while using BlackBerry Services. BlackBerry service provider, RIM is working on the issue and it is likely to be restored within the next 4 hours. We regret the inconvenience caused.                                                                 – Airtel

The services may resume around midnight & hope to be fully upgraded with BIS 4.1 on all network providers.
