RIM Showcases India’s First BlackBerry Equipped Cafeteria – SkyPark Cafe

RIM & BBin ventures SkyPark Cafe to become the first BlackBerry equipped venue in the country. The cafeteria is geared up with BlackBerry PlayBooks, BlackBerry Music Gateway & NFC (Near Field Communication) checkpoints. The PlayBook tablets are used as menu, work & entertainment for customers while a dedicated PlayBook is installed as a Music Jukebox powered with BlackBerry Music Gateway. NFC stickers are also applied in the location for instant check-ins & other services.

BlackBerry PlayBook works as an ordering Menu with detailed description of the items served at SkyPark Cafe. Couple of tablets are always carried by waiters to take and keep track on orders as well as many others are filled with Apps & Games for customers over free WiFi network to browse, work & play multiplayer games.

The BlackBerry PlayBook Jukebox plays music from the cloud wirelessly using the Bluetooth device – BlackBerry Music Gateway! Customers can walk upto the PlayBook Jukebox & search for their favorite song & add it to the playlist playing in the venue. This feature not only engages with customers but also helps them discover new music in the end. Slacker Radio & Saavn Radio apps are used on PlayBook Jukebox.

With the power of NFC checkpoints all incoming customers can check-in & avail services by tapping their Blackberry or any other NFC enabled smartphones on tags applied. QR barcodes are also provided for incapable NFC handsets. User can check-in at SkyPark Cafe on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter & Foursquare. Other two BlackBerry dedicated spots – App of the Month & BBin App tags are applied.

‘App of the Month’ tag links users to the top seeded app on App World & BBin App tag redirects to Official BBin app world page. More details will flow in eventually so stay tuned.
