It was obvious to see RIM taking their propriety messenger BBM to the next level along building next-gen BlackBerry 10 platform. Introduction of Voice & Video chat was just an injection to communication whereas transaction of money is a whole different story. Hastings Singh, managing director of RIM’s South Asia, confirms Thorsten Heins statement of launching BBM Money onto messenger in near future.
“[But] we definitely can’t be complacent. So we are offering a new innovation – BBM Money which will be launched in Indonesia – first in the world – shortly.“, says Hastings. “It is a peer-to-peer transfer service that anyone with a Blackberry phone can use to transfer funds to someone else with a Blackberry phone.”
This feature will definitely change the definition of BlackBerry Messenger for being just a messenger. Implementation of such services will bolt down other platforms’ infrastructure.
