Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, an International Indian cricketer admitted he was involved in spot-fixing the May 9th IPL match (Indian Premier League). “He made cash payment for buying clothes,” a senior police official said.
“Sreesanth gifted the mobile phone to his girlfriend. We recovered it at the instance of the cricketer. We went to the house where the woman lived after Sreesanth talked about this during interrogation,” the official said.
They sought registration of case against the players under Section 420 (cheating), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust) while adding 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent).
