In a recent interview, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that he will be unveiling another unique device at Mobile World Conference (MWC) in March along with the complete 2015 roadmap. Similar to the Passport design and touch-capacitive keyboard, this device will continue to show innovation that has been literally unseen in current smartphone market. Today, we get some insight rumors that links both – words of the chairman and the patents filed by BlackBerry last year.
Dhabkirk, a well known BlackBerry insight blogger shares the latest info about the upcoming BlackBerry hybrid smartphone codenamed VISA. According to him, this phone will be a 5.2″ 16:9 slider with 3-rows Passport like touch capacitive keyboard. The innovative feature of this device will be the sliding keyboard which rolls-out automatically when the user taps on text field to start typing, and rolls back-in when done. This is possible with a new slider mechanism patented by BlackBerry shown in the images below. The phone will have an always seen top row of keyboard which helps in navigating similar to the Passport.
The BlackBerry ‘Visa’ is expected around the end of Q2 2015 and will run on a new BlackBerry OS which could be the one John Chen referred to launch in June 2015.
