BlackBerry holds a respected position in tech industry with its massive patent registration numbers. The acquisitions made in past few years have bagged them even more which now aids the revenue by its royalty fee. Today, the company filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Nokia for using as much as 11 patents without licensing them.
According to BlackBerry, these wireless patents are also used by several leading carriers in the U.S. for their LTE technology but “Nokia has persisted in encouraging the use” of the standard- compliant products without a license from BlackBerry, it said.

Some of these patents came to BlackBerry from former tech giants Nortel Networks Corp. which Nokia tried to acquire back in 2009.
