When Noida based Optiemus Infracom licensed the deal with BlackBerry to manufacture & sell phones, the company stated to come with a fully in-house production last year. Unfortunately, that did not happen but later than never, the leak of ‘Ghost’ smartphone last week confirms the near launch of the first ever ‘Made in India’ BlackBerry smartphone!
“These would be a mix of keypad phones and the full touch phones,”
Though the rumor came from a reputed source, it got an official confirmation from Hardip Singh, Executive Director, Optiemus Infracom. This upcoming all-touch BlackBerry will be a high-end segmented device whilst Optiemus also looks forward to release mid-tier phones in parallel. Not to forget, there will definitely be phones with physical keyboards for die hard BlackBerry fans.
BlackBerry ‘Ghost’ will launch sometime in Q2 2018 if everything goes smoothly, alongside of TCL’s BlackBerry KEYone successor – which might again launch in India under the license of Optiemus Infracom.
